The Yap State Department of Resources and Development (Yap R&D) welcomes you to our website. The purpose of this website is to acquaint you with the investment, workforce and private sector development initiatives currently being undertaken by our department. Contact information is presented as a means of inviting direct inquiries relative to our department's mandate of facilitatiing sustainable economic development for our burgeoning State. Private sector development is an integral component of our search for a self-sustaining economy.

Yap R&D believes we are on the threshold of significant economic development, as evidenced by our sound infrastracture. A favorable enabling environment in terms of foreign investment, regional commerce and workforce development exists. Our State priority development areas include: Tourism, Fishing and Agriculture. R&D Strives to be the catalyst in terms of synergizing our State's human and material resources in our vigilant quest for a robust, self-reliant economy. Our proximity to Guam and Japan makes Yap a veritable "Gateway" to the Asian Markets. Our Free Association with the United States ensures our political stability and provides safeguard for all potential foreign investment.

Situated in the Western Caroline Islands, Yap is made up of 138 islands and atolls spanning more than 100,000 square miles of total area. Yap proper, where the State Capital, Colonia can be found, has a total of 49.7 square miles. Yap is blessed with a rich and uniquely traditional culture emblematic of the warmth and hospitality of our people.
